MY RELATIONSHIP WITH MAKEUP

I am 23, I don't wear makeup and have never been out wearing it.yes that's right!
I grow up seeing my older sisters wear  makeup and I've never been interested in it, I did put on some eyeshadow and lipstick when I felt the most intrigued by it and that was it. the majority of my colleagues used to wear makeup at college too. but I never felt the need to wear it.

I don't like wearing makeup because I feel more like myself when I don't, because I hate how heavy it feels on my face, because it's freeing to have nothing on my face, because I prefer my natural bare face even if it has a spot or if my dark circles are standing out. although.makeup is a good invention but maybe it's just not for me, playing with it sometimes in the house is fun, and I like when someone have a good makeup look on,I always compliment them..

There is a thing that I don't really get on social media is when people apologise for not wearing makeup! they make it sound as if wearing makeup is 'the norm' and the opposite is a violation of that 'norm'! isn't bare face is the OG?! Showing your bare face on your instastories is not something you should apologise for,and without sounding too sassy I'll never apologie for looking like myself.I know that makeup makes some people happy and more confident, but my point here is we have to wear makeup when we WANT and NEED TO not because we feel obliged or committed to do so.

I'm really curious to know how I'd feel the first time I'll wear makeup out, it sounds for me like the first time I had heels on, so I'll give it some tries every now and then, maybe I just need to get used to it.
I believe my whole makeup relationship can change over the years or even the months, maybe I'll be one of those gals that put their alarms 15mins earlier in the morning so they can put on makeup before getting out, maybe no-makeup days will finally make sense to me one day,and maybe I'll be obsessed with makeup that I wear 7d/7, who knows what the future is hiding? But until then, I'll be using my extra minutes to sleep more.

Do you wear makeup on a daily basis ? how do you feel makeup free?

  1. My story with makeup is quite a rollercoaster... I didn't wear any in high school, because i was afraid to suddenly appear at school with it on my face, and cared too much about what everyone would say. I started wearing makeup daily when I started going to uni, but always felt very self conscious because I always felt like I had done it wrong and it was just not subtle at all... But then I was also afraid to appear without makeup ... And then I guess I grew up a little, got more comfortable with myself and decided that it was my face, and my life and I stopped wearing makeup altogether because I figured I felt better AND more beautiful without it... I wear lipsticks every once in a while, and a little concealer/mascara on occasions, like a party or NYE but that's it really, and that's what works for me and I'm really glad I found that out for myself! :)

    1. Thank you for sharing your story,I 100% agree with you, with time you figure out that it's your face and you can do what ever feels good to you.Glad I'm not the only one who feels more comfortable without makeup,I'm aware my relationship with makeup can change over the time but I'm enjoying being makeup free for now as I said before x

  2. I just had this conversation with my friend. I like makeup however I don’t wear it either. When I see people with different makeup looks I am fascinated by it . I do believe make up can make a outfit pop more. However I don’t think it should be a everyday thing. I personally don’t wear it because I love my skin. I want to be confident without it . I might wear it on a special occasion but that’s it . I think today society is big on makeup . Back in the day people focused more on natural beauty . Now there’s females out there believing that they have to a face full of makeup to be presentable.

  3. I loved ur post since i thought i was the only one who wasn't fond of makeups. I used to completely hate them since it was heavy and hassle, but recently i grew pale and realized that i needed makeup (eyebrows and lip and cheek tint) even it's not that much. The power of makeup is to enhance beauty not to cover it, and rn i could say that i am enhancing my beauty

  4. Great point. In twenties, I wouldn't leave the house without wearing make-up, not even my glasses - I would always wear my contacts. Now, in my forties, none of these things matter anymore. I am happy and confident in my own skin. I just wish felt this way in my younger days. But it's never too late right?
