OUARZAZATE TRIP -PHOTO DIARY

August 08, 2018

Hello and welcome back here (!) I hope you're all doing great.well, today's post is about my trip or rather " two months stay" in Ouarzazate. ( S/o to those of you who read my last post, you know the whole story *wink* ).there is actually a previous post about my visit last year but everyone loves an update, right?
anyway,I spent the majority of my trip in the city center of Ouarzazate and finished it with a week in the Atlas moutains which are breathtaking.
In general,Ouarzazate is a Vv calm city in the south of Morocco (196 Km from Marrakech),it's known as "Holywood of Morocco" because it has some big film-making studios (which you can visit) and there are some international films that were filmed there,The mummy ,Gladiator, and GOT...
Personnaly,I loved visiting Taourirte Kasbah (gate) which has some stunning architecture futures either inside or on its facade.I went there by sunset time and I think it's the best time for it (and for anything really haha),ooh did I mention the heat?!! It’s sticky-icky-licky out there.imagine having a stroll in 42°C sometimes even 45°C(!!).I'm really proud of myself I was doing a 20min walk at least twice a day.yes I here you screaming: WHAT?? and YES I was doing it every single weekday, but it was mostly by obligation and faraway from pleasure.otherwise I wouldn't!

Okey heat aside,I also loved the main square of the city, which's called "Almohad square",it's always bombarded with people at night unlike it being so empty during the day (the heat has something to do with this!).there are restaurants, hotels, street vendors of local dates and spices...but more importantly, shops specialised in rose products, from natural rose water, rose face masks, traditional moroccan hammam products, rose oil...you name it.
if you haven't already guessed, the city is also known for rose plantations and it actually has a rose festival which is held every year on May,I couldn't attend but it's on my bucket list for next year!

I think the most beautiful things in Ouarzazate that make it stand out (in my opinion at least ) is its architecture, the tirracotta buildings all over the city, mountains all arround and the kindness of its locals.

It wasn't my first time in the Atlas mountains either, but everytime I go there, I only fall in love with it more and more,I honnestly wasn't ready to come back after a week spent in the middle of nowhere, waking up to huge mountains, surrounded by desert and palm trees, and sleeping under a thousends stars.*heart eyes emoji*
